Problems with shopping cart disappearing

This may occur if there is a problem with the 'cookies' on your computer. Cookies are small files used by computers to keep track of information on websites. Problems with cookies can cause all sorts of problems with websites and a few people have had the shopping cart disappear but it may also be the cause of other problems you may be having.

The easiest way is to use another browser - Explorer, Firefox, etc or another computer as either would use different cookies and will not have the same problem.

You can also delete the cookies which will sort the problem but can be complicated if you are not very experienced with computers. A rough guide follows. Please note that different versions of the same software may have slightly different methods and you should use their 'help' function to see the correct instructions for your version.

For Firefox version 3.5.3: Click on 'Tools' then 'Options' then 'Privacy'. Then click on "Show Cookies". Scroll down to 'usedromancebooks.co.uk', click once to highlight this address, then click on 'delete cookies'. You can do the same to any website that causes you similar problems.

For Internet Explorer version 7.0: Click on 'Tools' then 'Internet Options'. In the new box make sure that the tab 'General' is clicked, then in the section 'Browsing History' click on 'Settings'. On the new box click 'view files'. In the new box scroll down the list of cookies and other files and delete the relevant ones.

Not receiving new password.

This is a problem that only seems to affect people with AOL, Hotmail or Yahoo accounts. These all seem to filter emails containing new passwords into their Junk Mail boxes.

How to retrieve unfinished orders.

Start by logging in here:

http://www.usedromancebooks.co.uk/index.php?_a=login&redir=%2Findex.php

and then clicking on "Your Account" on the right under the Shopping
Basket, then on "Order History" then "Continue Payment".

As you will see once you have clicked on "Order History" you can see your previous orders here if you want to check on them for any reason.

Books are graded using the following definitions:

New books

Brand-new, unused, unread and in perfect condition.

Used books

  • Good: a copy that may have been read but remains in clean condition inside. All pages are intact and the cover is intact (including dust cover, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear.
  • Acceptable: a readable copy. All reading pages are intact, hardback covers are intact (dust cover may be missing), paperback covers may have small sections missing. Pages can be tanned and/or spotted.

My parcel is late.

UK mail.
Unfortunately, every now and again parcels seem to take forever to arrive for no obvious reason. Sometimes they are in the local delivery office because the staff think that a 'Sorry You Were Out' was left.

Recorded Signed For™ items are kept for one week, and all other items are kept for three weeks. If the item has not been collected within these timescales, they will be returned to sender if possible.

Royal Mail will not investigate lost mail until 15 working days after the due date of delivery. They allow the 15 working days for items to be returned to the sender.

For more info see http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm  and look under 'Delivery Services > Collection Services > Redelivery' and also under 'Customer Service > My mail is late or lost'.

Courier
All courier deliveries can be tracked and are unlikely to go astray.

How do I change the font size on a web page?

If you have trouble reading the print on our web pages, you can easily change the size of the font to fit your needs. Changing font sizes in your web browser is easy, however instructions will vary slightly from browser to browser.

If you're using Firefox then hold down CTRL and press + to increase the size, or hold down CTRL and press - to decrease the size.

If you’re using Internet Explorer (v.5 or above) select from the menu bar at the top the ‘View’ pull down menu. Next select the ‘Text size’ option and then select one from the 5 options ranging from smallest to largest.

If you get really stuck, go to your browser's help menu (usually the button furthest right in any program). From there you should be able to get help on any problem you have.

Forgot your password?

Go to the login page.  Put in your email address in the top box, then click on 'Forgot your password?'

A new password will be emailed to you. You can login using that password, then change it to something more memorable following the instructions below.

How to change your password or other details

After you login the front page appears.

On the right where it originally had 'login'  it now says 'logout' then 'your account'.

Click on 'your account'.

On the next page you can subscribe or unsubscribe to the newsletter, change your password, see your order history, or change your personal details.

Problems with Delivery Rate?

Make sure your address has the country filled in correctly. The delivery rate is calculated by the shop and relies on the country being correct.
